Chesney Checks-In with Local Businesses & Non-Profits

State Representative Andrew Chesney learning about the services from the Freeport Pregnancy Center from Cherish, an employee of the Center.

State Representative Andrew Chesney continued his outreach to area businesses and non-profits last week with a tour of Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena as well as Freeport Pregnancy Center.

“Meeting with local employers and charitable organizations helps me better understand and advocate for their needs in our State Capitol,” said Chesney. “I visited the Freeport Pregnancy Center on Thursday and had lunch and a tour on Friday at Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa.”

The Freeport Pregnancy Center works with expectant mothers at risk of aborting their unborn babies to help connect them with resources and loving options.

While visiting Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa, Chesney met with owner Mark Klausner and General Manager Terry Ruhs about challenges within the hospitality industry as they attempt a bounceback from the severe hit of COVID-19 to our region’s economy. “I hear their challenges and am so gratified to see the owners of Eagle Ridge are investing in improvements to position them to come back stronger than ever,” said Chesney.

Rep. Chesney is scheduling meetings throughout the Summer with local officials and constituents who wish to discuss state issues and services. These meetings went on a brief hiatus this week while the legislature returned for special session, but resumed thereafter.
