Chesney attends White House Event on Rollback of Regulations Helping All Americans

State Representative Andrew Chesney received a very special invitation recently.  The second term legislator from Northwest Illinois was invited by President Donald Trump’s White House Social Office to a special event on the South Lawn of the White House to discuss “rollback of regulations helping all Americans”.

Chesney attended the event in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, July 16, joining other state officeholders from across America in traveling to the Nation’s Capital highlighting the importance of the Trump Administration’s deregulatory agenda and the need for additional deregulation (smart regulation) at the State and local level.

“It was thrilling to join President Trump on the South Lawn to talk about such an important topic.  Cutting regulations and costs, advancing occupational licensing reform and better aligning local, state and federal regulations are important accomplishments of the Trump Administration and I am pleased to support them in this bipartisan push to drive economic growth, improve government responsiveness and to liberate Americans from burdensome regulation,” said Chesney.

“As a Stateline legislator with two neighboring states nearby by home district, I understand firsthand the problems workers can encounter when it come to occupational licensing reciprocity and how this limits their ability to earn a living and pay taxes to the State of Illinois,” Chesney continued.  “The COVID pandemic has only driven home the need for additional flexibility by states like Illinois to put people to work faster through better and more efficient reciprocity with other states.”

Over the next year, Trump Administration leaders will participate in a series of events and programming with state, local and tribal leaders to drive further deregulatory momentum at every level of government.

“The Initiative provides a great conduit for identifying shared challenges and promoting best practices,” Chesney concludes.
